Meshulam (Badihi), Shimon

Meshulam, son of Yonah and Aharon Shimon (Badihi), was born on the 3rd of Tevet (27.12.1927) in Eden. When he was five, he immigrated to Israel. Before finishing elementary school in Tel Aviv, he left for training in the “HaShomer haTsa’ir” Kibbutz Tel Amal. Meshulam then joined the ranks of the Palmach at Kibbutz Givat Hashlosha. Meshulam was cheerful and a friend to everyone. He was a passionate soul and loved life. The day after the United Nations General Assembly Resolution of November 29, 1947, on the partition of the land and the outbreak of the War of Independence in its wake, Meshulam took part in the transfer of convoys from Tel-Aviv through Bet-Dagon to various places. During one of the operations he was captured by the British and later released by the Haganah. He was a quiet, loyal, dedicated soldier, disciplined in the fulfillment of all his responsibilities. Meshulam took sabotage courses and worked in various posts on the way to Jerusalem. On the 2nd of Iyar, May 11, 1948, Shimon fell in the “Maccabi” operation while attempting to break the Jerusalem Siege. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
