Merimi, Ovadia


Ovadia, son of Binyamin and Rivka (Jiran) Merimi, was born in 1936 in the city of Sezaz in Persia. The family immigrated to Israel in 1950 and settled in the Karkur transit camp in Samaria. He graduated from elementary school there. In 1954 he joined the youth company that was sent to be educated at Kibbutz Ein Dor. In 1956, he joined the “Arava” group, which completed Kibbutz Reshafim and enlisted in the Nahal Brigade, when he was transferred to the Shizaf. Ovadia fell during his duty on 30 Kislev, December 23, 1957 and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
