His commanders soon stood up for his special qualities and talents and began to advance him on the command scale. He was sent to a class commanders course and successfully completed it. After a relatively short period of time, in which he proved his ability as a commander, he was sent to an officer’s course and completed it with great success. He was appointed commander of the Armored Corps unit in one of the field units of the Armored Corps and filled with his duties with dedication and knowledge, which gave him the name of an excellent commander, a fine combination between a soldier and an excellent fighter and a friendly man who loved everything. He was considered a man of command and leadership, devoted and responsible for carrying out his tasks, with quick perception and perfect professional knowledge, and above all had stability in difficult situations, and Mandy was given a hard choice: he loved the army and the role it played, He wanted to build a family for himself and set up a house with his girlfriend Leah, who was going to marry her In the end he found a compromise in civilian life while maintaining close ties with the army, and in a very short time he established and managed an independent business that employed dozens of workers and successfully completed a business administration course at the University of Haifa. Exceptionally, he was sent to a course for company commanders in the armored infantry company. He managed to lead an active and full civilian life without detracting from his continuous contacts with military life. He was also a citizen who cared and founded a circle of citizens for Haifa, which aimed to promote the city socially, economically and aesthetically, but the war interrupted this activity while it was hostile. During the Yom Kippur War, Mendy took part in the battles of the containment in the Sinai, as commander of the company of the infantry company, during which he fought with courage and resourcefulness and on the 18th of Tishrei 5734 (18.10.1973) he was killed and killed in the battle.
