Melman, Moshe
Son of Eve and Abraham. He was born in 1917 in the Volhynia Oblast in Russia and immigrated to Eretz Israel with his parents in 1925. He studied at the Geula High School in Tel Aviv, where he made an excellent contribution to all his educational activities and took part in every sport and cultural activity at the initiative In 1933, he took an active part in the Hagana organization, and in 1936, when the bloody riots broke out, he was appointed to be responsible for the security of the southern neighborhoods of Tel Aviv – the Hatikva and Shapira neighborhoods. He spent nights there as days, organized the residents, built fortifications and took care of security. When the Second World War broke out in 1939, he abandoned his civilian life and was drafted into command positions in the Haganah. The dream of his life was the establishment of the State of Israel and a Hebrew army. In 1924, when the Nazi enemy was at the gates of Egypt, he could not settle for what was happening in Israel and wanted to take part in the war against the Nazis. He was allowed to enlist in the British army for “zero,” and when the brigade was established he was one of the pillars of the Third Battalion. He was an exemplary military man and a leader in his company. On March 20, 1945, he was the deputy commander of the attack operations carried out by the Third Battalion in the light of the day on the position of “La Guarguta”. Then directly supervised the auxiliary weapon, and his work was then described as successful and decisive by the commander of the operation. Where they met face to face with German soldiers and were able to do so. On April 3, 1945, about three weeks before the end of the war, he fell in a fierce battle against the Germans and was buried in the military cemetery in Ravenna. Lay down parents, brother and sister.
