Melamedovsky, Zvi

Son of Henia and Meir, was born on April 22, 1930, in Petah Tikva. Zvi studied in an urban school and afterwards in evening classes. He was early in his career and specialized in plumbing. He was a member of Maccabi Hayarkon and of the Irgun Zvai Leumi. With the outbreak of the War of Independence after the United Nations General Assembly decided on 29 November 1947 to partition the country, he served in the defensive posts of the Yad Eliahu neighborhood and, after being drafted, was transferred to the Givati ​​Brigade, where he served until his last day, Was among the defenders of the village of Uriya and later in the battles for the conquest of Beit Daras, Julis, etc. In the battles for Ramle and the defense of Negba, he was wounded in his arm and refused to leave the field, claiming that he could still cover his comrades’ retreat. This was in the south of Fall, on the 18th of Tammuz 5708 (July 18, 1948.) He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot.
