Melamedi, Meir (“Abba”)


An only son to his parents Joshua and Malka. He was born on October 1, 1944 in Afula. He spent years in elementary school in Kibbutz Beit Oren. His mother, on whom the burden of supporting the household was concerned, was busy working all day and Meir was to watch and care for an old grandmother, but he never complained about it. But despite the difficult economic conditions he managed to achieve great achievements. After finishing elementary school, he returned to Haifa where he completed high school at the Reali School. He excelled in geography and stood out for his love of hiking. He belonged to the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. His economic conditions did not make him bitter and his relations with everyone who came into contact with him were human, and he always showed a warm attitude and concern for his friends. While at Reali he belonged to the Gadna, where he underwent a training course, trained in judo in order to get ready and ready for any situation in meeting with an enemy. In July 1962 he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Nahal Brigade. He completed his basic training period, served in Kfar Giladi, and even in a training course as part of the advanced training of the paratroopers. When he joined the paratrooper Nahal Brigade, he wanted to prevent his mother from telling her about it, and fearing that she would object to his plan and dream that he would be a parachutist would fail, but he did not give up his dream and continued with his plan. on the second day of the battles, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967). Was at Ammunition Hill and was buried at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
