Melamed, Yehuda


Son of Leah and Avraham He was born in the city of Yemen in December 1913 and returned to Israel with his vision of returning to Zion and joining his grandparents who settled in Jerusalem at the age of 14. He immediately began to work and became self-sufficient and his grandparents, he found a job in the B’nai B’rith office, took care of his parents’ immigration, and when he brought them to Israel, he was their only breadwinner and his widowed sister and four children, he was a member of the Haganah and at the outbreak of the War of Independence he joined and served in the Oded Brigade. He fell in safed on the 3 of tevet (4.1.1949) and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Safed.
