Melamed, Shalom


Son of Yemima and Nathan, was born in 1927 in Yemen. In 1943 he immigrated to Israel and lived in the Sha’arayim neighborhood near Rehovot. He established a family and earned his living as a coachman. In February 1948 he enlisted, served in the Givati ​​Brigade and participated in the “Nachshon” operation. Was among convoy convoys in the vicinity of Rehovot and took an active part in the harassment operations in Wadi Sarar. During Operation Nachshon, he was among the defenders of Deir Muhsin and fell there on the 27th of Adar II 5708 (1948). He was buried in a Chulda. Left a wife, Shulamit, and two children. On the 19th of Cheshvan 5710 (19.10.1950) he was put to rest at the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
