Melamed, Ovadia
Son of Avraham and Tzipora. He was born on March 24, 1933 in Tel Aviv, where he completed his studies at the “Carmel” elementary school, and later studied at a vocational school (“the Center for Qualified Teachers.”) At the beginning of the War of Independence, He joined the Haganah and served as a liaison. He also volunteered for excavation work near Ramla. He began to study the framework profession, but he did not continue to do so, because he was attracted to a kibbutz life and he went into hiding. He even returned to the city to concentrate a few of his friends who went with him to the kibbutz. Shortly afterwards, the group left Alumot and moved to Gesher HaZiv. After his enlistment in the IDF in August 1951, Nachal was again in Gesher Haziv. Life in the agriculture appealed to him and he was eager to continue his private life in this atmosphere. But he did not receive it, because on the 25th of Mershvan (13.11.1952) he fell while fulfilling his duties and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. “Things in his memory” were issued by his close friends.
