Melamed, Abraham

Son of Zippora and Eliyahu. He was born on November 16, 1946 in Jerusalem. Avraham graduated from the Orch Chaim elementary school and studied for one year in the electrification program at the ORT school in the capital. Until his enlistment, he worked in electricity and the building to help support his family. Avraham was drafted into the IDF in early November 1964 and assigned to the Nahal Brigade. He served in different units, and took advantage of every opportunity he had to get home, work and help. He even participated in the Six Day War and was decorated with the battle. In early August 1967, Avraham was released from regular service. His concern for the family was paramount to him and he did not have time to do his own home. He served as a driver in a medical corps unit and participated with his unit in the War of Attrition, the Yom Kippur War and Operation Peace for the Galilee. According to the testimony of his commanders, Avraham was a quiet and modest soldier who did his duty in the best possible way. On the 28th of Adar I 5743 (March 2, 1984) Avraham fell during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left a mother, two brothers and three sisters
