Meisels, Shalom


Son of Zissel and Shlomo. He was born in 1908 in Poland. His family emigrated to Germany and from there immigrated to Eretz Israel. His brothers settled in Jerusalem while he settled in Haifa. Shalom was a friendly guy and had many friends. In his city he was an active member of the Haganah and he found his livelihood as a mechanic in the Volvo garage in the city. In the course of the 1936-1939 riots, on 21 Cheshvan, November 15, 1938, when he was repairing a car, an Arab entered the garage and shot him in the back. Shalom was seriously injured and taken to the hospital where he died. He was buried in the new cemetery in Haifa. He left a wife and brothers.
