Meisels, Levi
Born in the town of Gora-Humorului, Bukovina, Romania, on 10 May 1927, son of Berta was born in Romania, where he spent seven years studying the Jews of his city until the Holocaust. August 1944, during which he served in the Golani Brigade and participated in escorting convoys and combat operations in Mishmar Ha’emek, Lagoon, Jenin Etc. He took part in the attack on Lubia, one of the important enemy strongholds in the Lower Galilee, which blocked the road to Tiberias and could serve as a springboard for an attack in the direction of Afula. “Golani” attacked the village from the direction of Sajara, and another force, in armored vehicles, moved on the road from Tiberias.The attacking force encountered fierce resistance from the enemy, who even sent reinforcements to the area, (June 9, 1948), was seriously injured and died. His body was collected only six weeks later, when Lubia was captured. Levi was brought to eternal rest in a grave in the Mishmar Ha’emek cemetery.
