Meir, Shimshon
Son of Menashe and Haviva. He was born on February 15, 1957 in Jerusalem. Here he studied at the Bnei Ami elementary school. His teenage years were spent on Kibbutz Kabri, where he completed high school. Shimshon grew up in a large family of eleven, who suffered from a housing shortage. Under these circumstances, Samson’s innocent and humble personality developed. His generous qualities had been discovered from childhood. Be shy, timid and content with little. However, he always showed a weary face and loved to ‘make life’. When he finished elementary school, he wanted to go out to work to make his parents a little easier. His employers became attached to him and admired his honesty and his zeal for work. However, Samson’s passion for studies was intense and he decided to move to Kibbutz Kabri and to finish his studies. The parting from Jerusalem, the city he loved and knew every street and every corner, was difficult, but his decision was wise, for his time in the kibbutz was the happiest of his life. Kibbutz Kabri became Shimshon as a house in the full sense of the word. Here he found the company of the Egoz group, to which he was associated with all of his soul. Here he found satisfaction in his banana plantation and devoted most of his energy; Here he called his adoptive family, which received him warmly, and here he was also appreciated for his Yaffa qualities. His teachers said: “Shimshon was a close and introverted boy, kind, smiling and very sociable, a quiet, sensitive and gentle boy, devoted, disciplined, and disciplined. It was not a man of things who was a man of action, and his work proved his talents and qualities as a person, and his studies were not his strong point, he did not like to extend things in writing or orally, but he was sometimes surprising in his brilliance. Suddenly Shimshon’s answer was heard: he had intuition and natural senses. ” Shimshon devoted all his attention to the bananas. “Samson and Bananas,” became a name on the kibbutz, and you could always see him in his work clothes, smiling and hurrying to his bananas at any time. “Sometimes I had a feeling,” says the plantation center. Samson seems to be sending his own work. When the harvest was successful, he was not Simcha with it. When he returned to the kibbutz for vacations, he hurried to the grove. “Samson also volunteered for any other work that was required:” Volunteer spirit was inherent in him. When he was asked for help, Shimshon was the first in line. “” He was a working demon, “adds Ruthie,” and he also swept the others with his enthusiasm. “He was very proud of the Egoz group to which he belonged and was very anxious to be a pleasant friend. In early November 1976, Shimshon was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the infantry. He served as a combat soldier in the Golani Brigade and took part in the Litani operation, and when he was asked to do so, he did everything to be worthy of it when his commanders wanted to send him to a company commander’s course. – a very typical reaction to the humble Shimshon in his manner. “Shimshon loved to laugh – and his laugh would roll over the training ground in the outpost or in the tent – he cared, he had strict discipline, and when the company was in difficult stages of training, it was he who managed to maintain morale. Everything is in the affirmative. ” On the 17th of Tevet 5716 (16.1.1979) he fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. LeftFollowed by parents and eight brothers and sisters. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Shimshon served as a combat soldier in the unit, fulfilled his duties in a respectful manner and received praise from his commanders. He needed help, and his comrades-in-arms and commanders alike loved him. ” Kibbutz Kabri published a booklet in his memory.
