Was born in the city of Przemyśl, Poland, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1934. During his youth and studies in Haifa, he began studying at the “Netzach Yisrael” school of “Hamizrahi” He was a member of the “Hatzofim” movement and a central instructor in the Haifa branch, and after completing his studies he left for training in Kibbutz Yavneh and was later transferred to Jerusalem and organized the ” He was also a successful student at the university, in the Faculty of Humanities and earned his living, volunteering to go to Cyprus as a teacher After returning to his studies at the University of Jerusalem, at the outbreak of the War of Independence following the UN General Assembly resolution of 29 November 1947, the partition of the country into two states and the imposition of the siege on the city Emanuel volunteered to go out as a teacher and guide the Old City and influenced some of his friends to do the same. In the Old City he organized a small workshop for art objects, a profession he had been fond of since his youth. He actively participated in the defense of the Old City and organized his young followers and trained them for defensive action. On March 3, 1948, when he learned of a disaster that had taken place in his family in Haifa, he first received permission to leave the Old City. But when he was already in the convoy, he suddenly saw that the British had arrested the commander of the Old City. His parents wrote: “Father, dear mother, forgive me for the only choice I had and the decision to stay in the Old City, and at night I cried and gnashed my teeth, I went through a nightmare night because I did not know anything of you. “He said. With the worsening of the situation in the Old City, he became one of the pillars of her stubborn defense.
