Medina, Solomon

Son of Masoud and Rosa. Born on the 25th of Adar 5707 (25.3.1956) in Tiberias, as a son of a large family of children. From Tiberias the family wandered to the colony of Tel Mond. And later settled in Lod. Shlomo completed his elementary studies at the regional school in Tel Mond. Because of the economic situation at home, he was unable to continue his high school studies, but he studied electrical appliances and worked in his profession until he enlisted in the army. At the same time, he also was involved with sports and showed interest and ability in this field. After completing his army service in April 1974, he volunteered for a paratrooper unit. Four months later, he completed his parachuting course. He was sent to a training course, and after completing the course he received the rank of Corporal. For more than a year he had done the hard training and operational employment, to the satisfaction of his commanders. Then a disaster occurred – he fell during his service, on 26 August 1975. Was brought to eternal rest on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents, eight brothers and sisters. In a condolence letter, Shlomo’s commander wrote: “Your son Shlomo was an outstanding soldier, loved by his friends for his good cheerful character, and served for more than a year in the company, with hard work and difficult conditions. … We hoped that he would continue to advance in the ranks of the IDF, because he had all the knowledge. “
