Mazuz, Yisrael


Yisrael, son of Gamra and Azira Mazuz, was born in 1937 in Sfax, Tunisia. In 1955 he immigrated to Israel with his family and they lived in Be’er Sheva. Yisrael was drafted into the IDF in late 1956 and was assigned to the maintenance corps. He was a devoted soldier, diligent and loyal to his job. After completing compulsory service, he was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He participated in all of Israel’s wars, beginning with the Sinai Campaign, the Six Day War, the Yom Kippur War and the Lebanon War. On 12 Cheshvan, 13.11.1986, Yisrael fell in his service and was buried in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. He left behind a wife and four sons.
