Mazon, David

Son of Moshe and Mazal. He was born on February 21, 1950 in Tel Aviv. He received his early education at the elementary school in Ramat Hahayal and after completing his studies he studied at the Tel Aviv Gymnasium (electronic track). He was very fond of the soccer game and was a member of Maccabi’s youth team in Tel Aviv. He was active in sports and played soccer in the Egged group. In 1968, he participated in the final competitions of the Association’s sports day and won a medal and a certificate of appreciation. By nature he was kind and his friends were close to him and liked him. He was drafted into the IDF in February 1968 and assigned to the Armored Corps. The role of the service was all for him. He wanted to move forward and succeed and do everything in the best possible way out of loyalty, diligence and obedience. He loved his home and his family so close that he would not leave his house to spend time and loved to sit in the bosom of the family. Humble and modest and pleasant. On the 20th of Iyar 5729 (20.4.1969), he fell in the canal area and was still in his compulsory service, and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, where he wrote to his parents in his letter of condolences: During a difficult time for the whole company, or for the training soldiers, Your son was a friend , who could cheer them up by joking or by turning a shoulder to help in every case of difficulty. His death as a soldier in his armored vehicle, serving with him on the banks of the Suez Canal, is a tragic end to the short life of an Israeli youth. “
