Born in Haifa on October 15, 1950. Born in Haifa on October 15, 1950, Dan grew up and was educated in Haifa, where he acquired his academic education and began his studies in the Reali elementary school and continued his high school studies in the same institute. His studies were active in the Gadna. Dan was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1968, and after completing basic training, he completed two professional courses – a course for radio operators and a telephone operator and radio operator – and was transferred as a wireless operator to the Golan Heights. From there he moved to the command liaison unit in the Northern Command. His commanders finished his praises because of his fair manner, his professional knowledge and his positive character in the unit. He was always willing to take on any task and perform it properly. In mid-November 1971, Dan was released from regular service and applied for academic studies. He studied at the electrical / electronics department at son of-Gurion University of the Negev, and after one year went to the Technion in Haifa, where he graduated as an electronics engineer. After completing his studies he was hired by the Rafael Armament Development Authority, where he worked in the planning and development of sophisticated antennas, specializing in the field of electromagnetism and within a short period of time became one of the leaders in this field. He took an active part in the development of a vital component of a communications system, engaged in the calculation and design of the influence of bodies on antenna performance, and with the help of a team of workers improved sophisticated automated measurement systems. Dan was a modest, pleasant, man-loving man who had acquired many friends for his charm. He devoted much of his time to expanding his knowledge of subjects close to his Lev – communication and electronics. His outstanding qualities were analytic ability, punctuality, high self-discipline and responsibility. On Sunday, December 2, 1981, First Sergeant Dan Mazar fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa, leaving a wife and mother in a condolence letter to the family.
