Maynart, Menachem (Erich)


Son of Aharon. He was born in 1896 in Germany and immigrated to Palestine after the Nazis came to power. He lived in Tel Aviv and supported his family and worked in the decoration of curtains. He was a member of the Haganah and at the outbreak of World War II joined the ranks of the “Civil Guard”. On 6 Elul, September 9, 1940, Italian planes bombed Tel Aviv and caused destruction and many casualties, including Menachem, who was brought to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery. He was memorialzed in Yediot Ahronot of Tel Aviv.
