Maximov, Maxim


Ben Tatiana Valentin, a brother to Olga. Born on 18.6.1981 in Kishinev, Moldova, he attended elementary and high school in a chemical-biological course. Afterward he continued his studies at the college and completed his studies with a professional certificate from a senior mechanic. Maxim liked to read books, learn languages, work on computers, and on Saturdays he used to ride his bicycle far and wide. Maxim loved to help others and volunteered to help the elderly in his neighborhood. In 2000 he immigrated to Israel with his mother, and the two joined Nurse Olga, who immigrated a year earlier and lived with her daughter in Holon. His father remained in Moldova after his departure from his mother. Maxim studied at an ulpan in Holon, and at the same time worked in a cafe and became a responsible and diligent worker. In April 2001 he was drafted into the IDF and served in the Maintenance Corps in the Gaza Strip, and his officers and colleagues were highly regarded as a food supplier and viewed him as an exemplary soldier who loved to help Maxim was a good and loyal friend and accepted his army. On the 27th of May 2002, Maxim was killed while serving in a road accident near his base, and was buried at the military cemetery in Holon, where he was survived by his parents, a sister and a niece.
