Matityahu, Abraham
Son of Margalit and Yehezkel was born on January 3, 1932, in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and grew up in Jerusalem, where he arrived at the age of one year. He attended high school and joined the Scouts movement. He became addicted to self-education and guided others in his movement. Was a gentle and soulful boy. When he reached the age of 16 he moved to a life of fulfillment in one of the kibbutzim of the valley. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he joined a combat unit and served as a regiment in one of the Golani Brigade battalions. Took part in the battle zraim. He recently fought in the Beit She’an valley and fell there on the 11th of Iyar 5708 (May 20, 1948). He was buried in Tel Yosef. On the 10th of Av 5710 (24.7.1950) he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
