Matetsky, Yehuda
Son of Miriam and Dov, was born on 27 November 1927 in Tel Aviv. After graduating from elementary school, he continued to study in evening classes and at the Max Payne vocational school where he acquired the framework profession. He was solid in character and sportlike. Yet he had a tendency to literature and painting. At the age of 14, he joined the Haganah and found his place in the Palmach, where he joined the army in December 1947, immediately after the UN General Assembly resolution on the partition of the country, , Did not agree to sign the permit that frees him from going to the front, even though he received a release from his battalion commander. He served in the “Yiftah” brigade, fought in the Galilee and participated in fierce battles to conquer Safed. In the heroic battle for the fortress he was wounded and died on the 28th of Nissan 5708 (May 7, 1948). He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Safed. His devotion to his friends was unusual. Even on his deathbed, his thoughts were given to his friend Amos, who was also wounded, and asked the doctor to take care of his friend.
