Matat, Aaron (Haim, Aharon)


Son of Chaim. Born in 1920 to a family originally from Bukhara, he lived in the Zichron Tuvia neighborhood of Jerusalem. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and was assigned to the infantry. On 27th of Elul 5703 (27.9.1943), he died and was laid to rest at the Mount of Olives cemetery. A memorial inscription bearing his name is found in the British Military Cemetery in Ramle. His name is also commemorated in “The Book of Volunteerism” in the “Book of the Year of Journalists” and in the Yizkor book of the Jabotinsky Institute.
