Mashvitz, Ben-Zion

Son of-Zion Mashvitz was born in 1889 in Berdichev, Russia, and was one of the organizers of the Jewish defense in Odessa in 1905, and in the same year he immigrated to Palestine without a passport and without a penny in his pocket. He lived in Jaffa and moved to Petah Tikva, where he lived in the German Colony in Jaffa with David Son of-Gurion, Yitzhak Son of-Zvi, Israel Giladi and Israel Shochat of the Hashomer Association. Son of-Zion died on the 11th of Tevet (22.12.1920). He was laid to rest in the “Hashomer” section of the cemetery in Kfar Giladi. He left a wife, a son and three daughters.
