Marmorstein, Gershon
He was born on August 2, 1913 in Bonn, Germany, where he studied at the university. In the mid-1930s he immigrated to Eretz Israel, lived in Gedera and worked as a farmer. During the bloody riots that broke out in 1936, he joined the ranks of the Haganah and enlisted in the Guardians Corps. On 24 Av, August 9, 1939, he went out with four other guards to inspect the road between Ekol and Hulda. On their way back, their vehicle mounted on a powerful mine. Gershon and two of his friends were killed on the spot, the other two were wounded and one of them died of his wounds that same day. Gershon was laid to rest in the cemetery in Gedera. The circumstances of his death are recorded in the book Lash VeMaggen.
