Marlal, Abraham


Son of Yitzhak and Nitza. He was born on February 22, 1954 in Tiberias, and at the age of three, his father fell captive to the Syrians. The economic situation deteriorated and Avraham was transferred to an institution in Kfar Yehezkel, where he studied for about 6 years. He continued his studies at another institution in Herzliya and finally, after being transferred to a foster family at Kibbutz Afikim, studied carpentry for two years at a vocational school in Tiberias. Avraham joined the IDF in early February 1972 and was assigned to a infantry unit. Despite his many difficulties in life, he made every effort to fulfill his duty, and his last commander notes in a letter of condolence to the family that Avraham “became fond of his friends and commanders and was loved by everyone.” On the 13th of Tammuz 5733 (13.7.1973), Avraham died during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Tiberias.
