Marian, Gadi
Son of Willy, of blessed memory, and Sylvia, was born on 25.1.1955 in Romania. Immigrated to Israel with his family in 1961. Gadi studied at the Ben Tzvi Elementary School in Rehovot and completed his studies at the Tamar High School. He was a talented and industrious student, a nice boy and loved by everyone around him. Gadi was drafted into the IDF in July 1973. He successfully completed paratroop training, and as his commander attested: “He did not rush to participate in an officers’ course because he wanted to deepen his basic knowledge of the military. But when he began the officers’ course, it was clear to his commanders that he was completely ripe for it. During the course he proved his maturity and military professionalism and completed the course as an outstanding trainee with all his instructors finishing the praises. He grew up and became an energetic officer with great ability. He was appointed commander of the combat unit and managed to prove to his commanders and subordinates his organizational abilities, his command and his leadership in a section of experienced veterans.” On 27 Tishrei 5736 (2 October 1975) Gadi fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rehovot. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. He left behind a mother and brother.
