Margalit, Shimon


Son of Pnina and Shmuel. Born in Bialystok, Russia on July 7, 1902. His father was killed in 1905 during a demonstration against the Tsar’s regime, and in 1914 he immigrated to Eretz Israel with his mother and two brothers. In 1918, he entered the Mikveh Yishal agricultural school, And completed his studies with honors in 1922. He later worked in various moshavot, including in Metula and Binyamina, and in 1925 he settled in Givat Ada as an independent farmer. On July 10, 1938, an armed gang entered the settlement and killed two of its inhabitants. Shimon, who fired shots at the assailants and was seriously wounded, died of his wounds on the following day, on the 12th of Tammuz, 11.7.1938, and was laid to rest in Givat Ada. He left a wife, a son and a daughter, a mother and two brothers. In the book “Givat Ada” and in the newspapers “Ha’aretz” and “Davar” were written lists in his memory.
