Marcuza, Yisrael
Son of Tzippora and Shmuel was born on the 26th of Shvat, 5703 (February 6, 1913) in the city of Eizpota, Latvia. He excelled in his studies and read and studied, and was a Torah scholar. Yisrael was an active member of the “Hashomer Hatzair-Netzach” movement, and abroad he acquired his knowledge of the Hebrew language and used it in his daily words before he immigrated to Israel.In 1932 he joined the Kibbutz from Kibbutz Ramat Gan. In the group he worked in the building and served for several years as a guard, and was a member of the cultural committee of the group and an activist and instructor in the Hagana, and on the day of the War of Independence he participated as a squad commander in the Golani Brigade, Took control of several outposts in the area, but were stopped by our forces in Zemach, and on May 18 the Syrians launched an attack on a plant with the help of artillery and tanks. ou forces couldn’t face the intensity of the Syrian attack. Yisrael fell in this battle on the 9th of Iyar (18/05/1948). He left a wife, Sarah. His body was found only a month later and brought to rest in the cemetery on the Sea of Galilee.
