After his military service, Daniel planned to study hotel management in Switzerland, and in early 1991, Daniel enlisted in the IDF. He was trained as a meteorological observer in the Intelligence Corps and assigned to serve in a base in the south of the country. Daniel did his job with great responsibility and dedication, and made sure to live a vibrant life at the closed base (organized the night club and found a billiard table that was very enjoyable for his friends at the base). After a year in the job, Daniel was transferred to a base in central Israel, where he was placed in charge of courses. At the end of March 1993, Daniel was assigned to the air force, became a spectator in a combat meteorological service unit and quickly became a shift supervisor. Daniel fell in the course of his duties on the 6 th of December 1993 in a road accident that occurred on the Arava road in the area of ​​Ein Yahav. His three friends were killed when they returned from vacation in Eilat: Sergeant Eran Farhi, and the released soldiers Avi Levi and Mosh Miller. Daniel was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery in Tel Aviv. He was twenty-one when he died. After his death he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. Survived by his parents and sister. In a letter of consolation to the family, the unit commander wrote: “Daniel, who was the commander of the unit’s scouts department, did his best, revealing a rare combination of responsibility and devotion towards his friends and commanders alike.” Daniel taught us all to love and give without demanding compensation. In his innocent and good nature, he attracted many friends as a magnet, and in their hearts, each of them remained something of his innocence and kindness. ” Daniel would forever be remembered as a handsome and lively young man who knew how to enjoy every moment, hugging Dov and hugging everyone who had known him for twenty-one years, so deeply that it was hard to describe.
