Maranin (Marchevsky), Yair


Yair, son of Laura (Lucy) and Avraham-Yaakov, was born on the 24th of Tammuz 5714 (24.7.1954), Kibbutz Ramat Hashofet. Yair was drafted into the IDF in early August 1971 and volunteered for the Armored Corps, but was refused entry to a pilot’s course and asked his brother to go to the Armored Corps after completing basic training in the Patton tank course and the commanders’ Patton, who was an “excellent soldier and exemplary member.” During the Yom Kippur War, Yair took part in the braking battles against the Egyptians on the Sinai front. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and his family published a memorial booklet in memory of him and his brother Pinchas.
