Mantle, Nathan


Son of Ita and Aharon-Shmuel was born on April 3, 1927 in the city of Frankfurt, on the river Main, Germany, and immigrated to Israel with his parents in March 1934. Nathan completed elementary school in Ra’anana and later worked as a metalworker and mechanic. In the winter of 1948, when the War of Independence broke out following the UN General Assembly resolution on partition, he fulfilled his obligation to protect the environment in the Asher district of the Alexandroni Brigade. On the 24th of Iyar, 4 March 1948, when he was standing guard at a post east of Magdiel, was shot in the head by a bullet and transferred to Beilinson Hospital where he died of his wounds. Na.
