Manteka, Joseph (Yossi, Pico)
Joseph (Yossi, Pico), son of Miriam and Aaron, was born in Adriana in Turkey in 1951 and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1956. In Israel he studied at the Brenner elementary school in Jaffa and the Amal elementary school in Holon. He was forced to go to work to help his father earn a living, first working in a carpentry shop and then with a diamond polishing machine, and his superiors praised him for his diligence, precision and rigor, and his friends in the workplace loved him for his cheerfulness and humor. He was a devoted friend and a loyal confidant, always a very friendly and easy-to-make friend. He was very patient and did not care about people, he listened to the problems of each friend, he was lenient and forgiving, and he knew how to reconcile and make peace with his friends He was always willing to help others, even at the expense of his time and convenience. And his family was known as a kind, gentle and pleasant man, who was loyal and dedicated to his parents, cared for their welfare and respected them.Joseph was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1969 and assigned to the Armored Corps. After completing his basic training, he completed his training course for a half-track driver and was assigned to an armored unit, and he was known as a diligent, disciplined, responsible and devoted soldier to his position. A few days before the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, Yosef was drafted into reserve duty in the Golan Heights, and during the war he took part in the fighting against the Syrians, and on the 7th of Tishrei 5740 (7.10.1973) Extract wounded.
