He attended the Ben Tzvi Elementary School in Rehovot and later completed his studies at the youth center high school in the city. Oren loved music. As a child he participated in music circles and loved to drum and play the recorder. In addition, he took part in karte, electronics, literature and basketball. He was a sports fan and loyally supported the Maccabi Shaarayim soccer team and the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team. Oren was smiling and happy and loved to help others. He was always surrounded by friends and knew how to make peace between them when necessary, for he was yielding and generous. He was very devoted to his family. Oren was drafted into the IDF in the middle of August 1986 and was sent to the Givati ​​Brigade for the Shaked Battalion, and after completing basic training, he was offered the position of instructor in a squad commanders’ course. Of the Shaked Battalion, and was very responsible and dedicated to his position and his comrades in the unit, as his commander attests: “Oren was one of the most prominent in the patrol unit. He stood out in his simplicity, in the outward authority he showed to his classmates who listened to his words and advice seriously. Oren was an example of his friends in jeep handling, professional driving, technical work and the knowledge he acquired in the patrol department. In his eulogies, his commander said: “You were a central figure in the company, a radiant and glamorous figure, and your deep-rooted ambition affected all those around you, and we will remember you as the father of the soldiers around you, supporting the weak and completing equipment for your friends.” His parents published a pamphlet in his memory.
