Mandelmilch, Yehuda (Udi)

Born in Tel Aviv on January 26, 1958. Yehuda studied in an elementary school in Safed and completed his studies in the biological track at the Reali High School in Haifa. Yehuda was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1976. He was first stationed in the IAF and was admitted to the flight school. After passing first courses for half a year, he decided to change course and volunteered for the Armored Corps. He was trained as a tank driver of various types and promoted to sergeant. His commanders, who realized his potential, sent him to an officer’s course, which he successfully completed. His instructors in the course saw him as “an exemplary commander with an occupying personality, devoted and with a deep national consciousness.” At the end of the course he was sent to the Armored Corps course. On 17 May 1979, Tzo’ar Yehuda was killed while serving in the military cemetery in Safed, where he was given the rank of lieutenant-colonel, leaving two parents, two brothers and a sister.
