Malul, Yehuda


Was born on November 18, 1953, in the city of Casablanca, Morocco. Yehuda was able to study for one year in his hometown, and in 1959 his family immigrated to Israel and settled in Rehovot and then in Dimona, where it became one of the first settlement families. Yehuda continued to study at the “Alumim” school, and even then he was discovered as a gifted student. After graduating from elementary school, Yehuda went to study at the “Kiryat Youth” Yeshiva in Jerusalem in the technological track, and stayed at the yeshiva for five years. From his childhood, Yehuda belonged to the Bnei Akiva youth movement, where he went on trips and learned to love the country “through his legs”. He loved painting and playing, writing songs and playing sports. Yehuda respected his parents very much and took care of their welfare. Yehuda was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of May 1972 and volunteered to serve in the Paratroopers Brigade, where he completed his paratroop training course and was sent to the officer’s course. Towards the end of the course, his hand was broken in an accident and he was unable to finish the course, so he returned to the Paratroopers Company as a platoon sergeant. Yehuda took part in the Yom Kippur War and was given the signal of battle, and when his time came to be released from the regular army, his behavior on the release certificate was marked as “very good.” “At the beginning of May 1975, Sgt. Yehuda was discharged from regular service and was admitted to the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where he began his social studies in Dimona, and in particular helped young people who were not in conventional education.On 1 Tamuz, 22 June 1982, First Sergeant Yehuda fell in battle in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Dimona and left behind his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
