Malul (Kahal), Sima (Tom)


Daughter of Carolina and Asher. Sima (who later changed her first name to Tom) was a Yaffa and talented girl, and began her studies at the Aleph State School in Safed, where her father moved to fill a senior position in the treasury She studied at the Alliance School in Haifa and finished high school at the Danziger School in Kiryat Shmona, in the biological track, and was a gifted student and during her studies she was active in many different fields. She participated in ballet, in the school choir, in folk dancing and was active in the Gadna. She learned to ride horses, worked in painting and craftsmanship, wrote well and found creativity and imagination. She loved to travel and read about nature, she had leadership and was very accepted in society. From the age of twelve until her death she wrote a diary. At the age of seventeen, Sima was chosen as the deputy of Yefet Hagalil. She dreamed of traveling the world and later on she aspired to be a doctor or a scientist. In September 1985, Sima enlisted in the IDF and a few months later she was sent to the officers’ course, but before completing her course on March 30, 1986, Sima fell during her service and was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shmona military cemetery. She left her parents, a brother – Jackie, and two sisters – Nira and Maya
