He was a member of the Haganah and served in the Golani Brigade, and after completing a course he managed to stay calmly in a room prepared for him in the new house, and since then he was in the Haganah, In assisting in the defense of the surrounding settlements and in Hebrew transportation. On the 29th of Adar I 5708 (29.2.1948) he went out in a van with eight young men to catch a car that, according to the headquarters of the local Haganah, had brought weapons to the Arab villages in the area. Because of the breakdown in the truck, they were forced to return to Tiberias, but he did not let his friends leave the mission due to the breakdown of the vehicle. At his request, they took an Egged taxi and set off again. Near Kfar Hitim they noticed the Arab car.
