Malka, Meir

Son of Simi and Yitzhak was born in Nahariya on May 11, 1959. Meir was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of May 1977 and was assigned to the Engineering Corps, serving as a truck driver, driver of a vehicle carrying heavy equipment, and finally a commander of the Command Engineering Corps, promoted to the rank of sergeant. On 9 Tammuz 5739 (July 4, 1979), Sgt. Meir fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Nahariya. He left parents, five brothers and a sister. A Torah scroll in his memory and in memory of his brother Shlomo, who also fell in the line of duty, was placed in a synagogue in Shlomi.
