Malik, Asher

Son of Bracha and Haim-Yekutiel-Yehuda was born on May 14, 1922 in the city of Lupine, Romania to a well-to-do family, observant and religious. From childhood, he was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement and wanted to immigrate to Israel. During the Second World War he was taken from his family to a concentration camp. After his discharge, he joined the “HaPoel Hamizrahi” kibbutz, was one of its active members, and immigrated to Israel with his kibbutz in 1946. He supported his younger brother since he was orphaned by their parents. At the beginning of 1948 he married a wife, Frieda, and settled in Kiryat Shmuel in Haifa. He found his livelihood as a painter. Much warmth and love was invested in building his family nest. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he took part in a guard duty in Haifa, and then enlisted in the Carmeli Brigade. He completed his training in Haifa and was sent to the Galilee. Asher fell on September 5, 1948, on the 1st of Tishrei 5709 and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
