Malchi, Eliyahu

Eliahu (Eli), son of Sarah and Benayahu, was born on March 4, 1950 in Ramat Gan. Eli was drafted into the IDF in early February 1969 and assigned to the Armored Corps. During his service he underwent a series of courses, including a tank commander course. “Eli never went through a real instructor course, but in a mentor’s conversation, Major Avigdor Kahalani raised Eli’s instruction as a name and as an example to all the others in the section,” he said, “without doubt it was his habit of striving for perfection. When he was one of us “moody”, Eli was able to choose the right subject and raise his morale, and during difficult times he could smile at the lips of the biggest “cops.” At parties, Eli would go onstage and pass sketches of Shaike Ophir, the Scouts, etc. He was very amusing and had a wonderful natural talent – both in the framework Once we waited for the roll call of the section, Eli was already in the rank of Staff Sergeant, and we were looking for a group of students to clean the training room. In the Battle of the Misuri compound on October 20, 1973, his tank was hit by a missile and all his crew fell, and with them, to me.
