Maklis, Zvi Yehuda (Zvika)

Maklis, Zvi Yehuda (Zvika)

Son of Hadassah and Avraham. He was born on 28.1.1962 in Savyon. From his childhood Zvika excelled in his kindness and in his comfortable temperament. He attended elementary school in Savyon, completed his studies at the comprehensive high school in Yehud and received a high school diploma. In the Scout Movement he specialized in navigation. He was a talented young man who liked to do electronics, carpentry, and various repairs at home and in the garden. Among other things he built a wooden hut from planks. From the dawn of his youth Zvika dreamed of flying. He invested a great deal of energy, adhering to the task and precision in building models, from cutting and bending the pieces of the special balsa tree and sticking them to the assembly of the engine, propeller, controls and wheels. Was an outstanding trainee in the aviation department at Creon, and later a successful instructor. Prior to his enlistment in the IDF in July 1980, he made great efforts to fulfill his dream and be accepted into a pilot course. He received the dismissal, despite his disappointment, naturalness and optimism typical of him, complementing the well-known fact that many begin the pilots course and very few finish it. Zvika was stationed in the Artillery Corps, and after training he was trained as a gunner and a commander of a moving artillery crew. Zvika stood out in his comfortable manner and in the extraordinary friendship of his age. Zvika volunteered for the Golani reconnaissance unit. During the Peace for Galilee War, Zvika served as an artillery liaison officer. On April 20, 1983, Lieutenant-Colonel Zvi was killed in a battle in Lebanon when he charged his soldiers from a terrorist ambush, and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Savyon, where he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
