Maimon, Moshe


Son of Yosef and Tonina. Born on 11.11.1950 in Tripoli, Libya, he immigrated to Israel with his family through Italy when he was about five years old, and he successfully completed the BILU elementary school in Tel Aviv and then studied at home – the professional high school “Torah and Crafts” and where he completed his studies successfully. His classmates, teachers and educators liked and admired him. He was a member of the religious sports movement “Elitzur” and excelled in soccer and basketball. He was also an excellent swimmer. He was drafted into the IDF in early November 1968 and first served in the Armament Corps, but thanks to his achievements in sport, he was later transferred to the Navy, where he successfully served as a technician on the ship Daughter of Galim and was praised by his commanders. But when he felt that he was trying to rescue his comrades from the ammunition truck that had exploded in Eilat, he was seriously wounded in the performance of his duties. – The military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
