Maimon, Avraham Avi


Avi, son of Shula and Jacob Maimon, was born in Givatayim in 1973. In mid-August 1991, Avi enlisted in the IDF and volunteered for combat duty as a combatant. At the end of the course he went to a sergeant course and immediately after that, in March 1993, he went to an officers’ course. Avi served as a platoon commander during the course of the entire route, and was sent a letter of appreciation when he completed his tour of Europe. Avi served in the command post and was appointed deputy company commander in November 1994. In August 1994 Avi joined the ranks of the career army. Avi fell in battle in Ramallah, on the 13th of Tishrei, (26.9.1996). He was twenty-three and a half when he fell. He was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. After his fall, Avi was promoted to the rank of major. He left behind his parents, brother and sister.
