Maimon, Ami


Son of Margo and Matzliach, was born on the 19th of Adar 5747 (19.4.1957) in Hadera. Ami studied at the elementary school in Givat Olga and completed his studies in automotive mechanics at the “Neurim” vocational high school in Kfar Vitkin. Ami was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1975. After basic training, he was assigned to an armored vehicle and an electrician with an armored vehicle, fulfilling his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders, who even promoted him to the rank of Corporal. His discharge certificate indicated that his behavior was very good, and his commanders’ assessment was “a good disciplined soldier with a good profession.” In mid-August 1978, Ami was released from regular service and began to work as a car mechanic in various garages. In the reserve service he continued to serve in the Ordnance Corps. On the 18th of Tevet 5742 (13.1.1982), Corporal Ami fell in the line of duty and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Hadera. He left behind his parents, three sisters and three brothers. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander said that Ami “performed his duty in the unit well and fulfilled his duty as a reservist in service every year.”
