Mahary, Espaou (Ophir)


Son of Molah and Abba. Espaou-Ophir was born in Ethiopia on 25 December 1972. He grew up in Ethiopia, immigrated to Israel via Sudan in 1984 and was absorbed in Israel with his brother in the settlement of Shavei Tzion near Nahariya, where he studied Hebrew and helped his parents Ophir lived in Ma’alot for about five years and moved to Pardes Hana in Kfar Hasidim, where he successfully graduated from the Border Guard in November 1991. After completing his basic training, he was stationed in Judea and Samaria, Company B in Ramallah. Ofir always showed courage, determination, perseverance and coolness, and twice was chosen as an outstanding fighter by his commanders. This made Ophir determined to achieve more and more, and in this he succeeded in the best possible way. In July 1992, Ofir successfully completed a course for scouts. In February 1993, he completed a course in commanding officers and became a commander in Ramallah, and in February 1998 he made his way to the Border Police undercover unit in Jerusalem, where he served as a combat soldier in the team Ophir’s hobbies were sports, and he was always very physically fit, and he loved to support all those who were close to him, loved children and tried to give everything to his little brothers. He was twenty-seven when he fell. He was buried in the cemetery in Pardes Hannah. After his death, Ophir was promoted to the rank of advanced sergeant
