Maharik, Israel, Dr


Son of-Zalman-Yehuda and Sheina-Atal. He was born on April 14, 1907 in the city of Riga, Latvia, where he studied a rabbinical family of several hundred years, after graduating from the University of Switzerland and receiving the title “Doctor of Medicine” He was active in the ranks of the Haganah and joined the British army as a partisan (in the British army) in Yugoslavia and later became a doctor in various cities in occupied Italy and returned to Israel. The first in the IDF artillery corps. When the days of the Sinai Campaign came, he fought in the ranks of the IDF, and together with Dr. S. Kochba edited and arranged the “Health Book” (in matters of hygiene and sanitation, especially the army). After the Sinai Campaign, he continued his army service in the regular army and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. On the 27th of Shevat 5724 (February 7, 1964), he died of his illness and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. He left a wife and two children. In 1966, his book “Ma’amot” (“Red on Khaki”) appeared – stories, notes and memoirs of “a pacifist who spent most of his days in uniform”
