Magen, Shlomo-Yaakov
Shlomo Yaakov Magen was born on October 4, 1929 in Jerusalem. As soon as he turned 18, he happily joined the Haganah. After the UN resolution on 29.11.1947, he joined the army and served in the religious division, “Alexander” as a corporal. He was among the conquerors of Kakun, Tantura, Kola, Tira, Ein Ghazal and others. Shlomo Yaakov was disciplined and had peace of mind. During Operation Horev, a “liquidation” operation carried out against the “Faluja pocket,” in which an Egyptian brigade was besieged. The attack took place on the eastern flank of the “pocket” in the area of Iraq al-Manshiyya. The Alexandroni forces broke into the village from the south and took over part of it. Meanwhile, the Egyptians recovered and forced our forces to withdraw. Part of the force was trapped inside the village. This battle fell on Monday, December 28, 1948, the 26th of Kislev. Shlomo Yaakov was buried in Faluja, and later, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
