Madmoni, Menachem

Menachem Madmoni, son of Shulamit and Shalom, was born in 1921 in Jerusalem. During the Second World War he served in the British Army. When he returned from the army, he returned to civilian work, and his military activity continued underground. Menahem was found dead after being severely tortured by Arabs who caught him on January 18, 1948, near the Herod Gate (according to another version near the Lions’ Gate) and the British handed over his body to the Jewish institutions. His name was engraved on a monument erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in memory of those who perished in the Jewish Quarter and the memory of fighters who fell in the battle for Jerusalem. He was buried in the Mount of Olives.
