Machluf, David


David, born to Mazal and Ben Zion, was born on 27 March 1953 in Tel Aviv. He completed his elementary studies at Moshav Asharah and completed his high school studies at the ORT school in Rehovot. Dudi, as his family and friends affectionately called him, was born as a firstborn son after two daughters, and unlike his expected status in the family, he did not develop as a spoiled and capricious child, but was very shy and independent. David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1971 and assigned to the infantry corps. But after a short period he was sent to a combat paramedics course and transferred to the Medical Corps as a medic. He participated in battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5734 (22.10.1973), he was shot and killed in a battle on Mount Hermon while he was treating the wounded. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Gedot. Survived by his parents and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and awarded the “Medal of Honor”.
